European Modern Home

Custom Home in Peterborough, NH

DESIGN BUILD

Luxury is in the details

Biophilic design is the art and science of infusing the palette and awe of nature into the design and building process. Biophilic design embraces the inspiration of breathtaking views, resulting in a distinct, character-filled home that seamlessly blends with the natural environment.

Nestled just outside Peterborough, NH, this biophilic home couples European Modern style with natural warmth.

When they contacted us, this retired couple was living in rural Maine. They quickly discovered their location was just a little too rural. Craving connection, community, and a sense of belonging, they reached out to LR3 due to our artistic aesthetic and reputation for meticulous quality and detail.

The couple loved the outdoors and knew they wanted it to feel as though they were living alongside nature in their forever home.

Elevating the concept of “room with a view”
to a new level.

We showed them several plots of land before they selected this one. When they saw the views from this special spot, it took their breath away in astonishment and they knew this was where they wanted to build their dream home.

The exterior upholds a European Modern look while fitting into the natural landscape perfectly with wood features, a metal roof, and warm blue stone steps.

We designed the home to provide as many views as possible of the regal Monadnock. In the living room, there’s glass on all three sides as we took advantage of every opportunity to bring nature indoors. With the scenery inspiring us at every turn, that’s an understatement.

Designed with the warmth of nature in every detail…

Inside the kitchen, there’s a story to tell…

After choosing an enchanting blue paint for their island, these clients presented LR3 with an option they’d found for the subway tiles. We’re not sure whether or not it was coincidence or fate, but the tiles were the exact ones that owner Paul LaRoche had been eyeing just months prior, excited to bring them into the right custom build.

He was more than thrilled to implement them into their kitchen. The blue offers a calming effect and amplifies the rest of the design.

The modern charcoal farmer’s sink bends the rules of a traditional white apron sink, with class and sophistication, tying the whole room together effortlessly.

The walk-in pantry provides plenty of storage and a convenient space for everything to remain uncluttered and hidden away.

The double-height staircase is spacious and open, set exactly right to offer an extra peek of the outdoors as you move between the levels. We achieved a custom steel look with wood and added white oak treads to complement the flooring. Custom cable railings and LED lighting float you along.

The primary bedroom and bathroom…

The primary bedroom and bathroom are no exception to the biophilic design concept with views pouring into every window. Our client loves taking evening baths and having a luxurious tub was important to her. We took her vision and elevated it by designing not just a main bath, but an experience where Grand Monadnock becomes the focal point of every morning and evening.

Towel warmers are an essential part of surviving chilly NH winters and were included in every bathroom with a shower or bath.

Because they love hosting friends and family and want them to enjoy their stay with the utmost privacy, we built a guest suite set apart from the rest of the home. Its own space, it’s complete with a bathroom, kitchenette, and coffee bar.

This biophilic, nature-inspired modern build is ready to become a forever home.
